Garlic is now Import Quota No Longer Wear

Trade Minister Gita Wirjawan Trade issued Decree No.. 16/M- DAG/PER/4/2013 dated 22 April 2013 on the Import of Horticultural Products. One point is the abolition of the quota system for the import of garlic.
Director General of Foreign Trade Bachrul Chairi confirmed, the new Minister of Trade Regulation regulates 39 types of imported horticultural products.
There is a reduction of 18 types of horticultural products are regulated in the Regulation of the Minister of Trade before, kind of horticultural products are excluded from the Regulation of the Minister of Trade earlier is Garlic, Garlic powder, chilli powder, Cabbage, Chrysanthemum, Flowers Heliconia, Orchid Flower, and some horticultural products processed.
"Thus, the importation of horticultural products no longer apply the quota allocation restrictions, licensing becomes more simple, and the process is done online," said Director General Bachrul Chairi in a statement on Wednesday (24/04/2013)
The new rules automatically revoke previous regulations which the Minister of Trade Regulation No.. 30/M- DAG/PER/6/2012 as amended by No.. 60/M- DAG/PER/9/2012 on the Import Products Horticulture.
"We want the licensing process more simple, the administration of imports became more orderly so that certainty in trying to be more secure," he said.
Provisions in the new rules include:
First, any imports of horticultural products can only be done by the importer Manufacturers (IP) and a Registered Importer (IT) Horticultural Products, and for every horticultural products Import Approval must be received Horticultural Products Import Recommendation (RIPH) from the Ministry of Agriculture.
Second, for the issuance IP, IT, and Horticultural Products Import Approval to the Ministry of Commerce only served through the online system (INATRADE). Trade Service Unit will complete the issuance of IP, IT, and the Import Agreement within a period of 2 (two) business days after the full stated requirements.
Third, any importation of horticultural products to be verified or do technical surveillance of import in the country of origin by the loading port appointed surveyor. In addition the company that did the importation of horticultural products must comply with quarantine, packaging, and labels in accordance with legislation.
Fourth, to IP, IT, and the Import Approval has been issued by the Minister of Trade Regulation No.. 30/M-DAG/PER/6/2012 as amended by No.. 60/M-DAG/PER/9/2012 shall remain valid until they expire.
